Mallory Faulkner Dingman

Mallory Faulkner Dingman is a contemporary abstract painter who lives and works in Arlington, VA with her partner and dog.

In her emerging body of work, Mallory explores the craft of storytelling and various methods of emotional expression through different materials and media. Self-taught, Mallory began painting as a means of dealing with past tragedies. Her work continues to explore the relationship between emotional memory and the commonality of the stories we all tell about ourselves. Influenced by artists from Taylor Swift to Vincent Van Gogh, she draws from the richness of her lived experiences and external inspirations to capture new combinations. She mixes expression and exploration of her current self with tactile processing of past emotional experiences.

Mallory earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Liberal Arts. Her exploration of the rich worlds of art, music, and literature give depth and a sense of history to her contemporary style. Growing up as a closeted queer woman in a deeply religious community provides her with a unique perspective and deep personal insight into the essential power of telling our personal stories. She merges existential questions with lived experiences to reconfigure the mundane and create a hymn to what it means to be human.
