Tadhg Ó Ciardha is an Irish queer visual artist, designer, writer, and musician, a member of Aerach.Aiteach.Gaelach and a final year student in UCD Drama and Irish Folklore. In 2021, he has had artwork published in The Outpost Éire and upcoming in the Thief’s Journal. In 2020, he was a participating artist in the Arthouse auction in aid of Outhouse Dublin. Tadhg was the artistic director, including set and costume, of UCD Dramsoc’s “Mother Courage and Her Children” in 2018, and designed posters for UCD Amnesty International’s Direct Provision Campaign in 2017 and Dublin Castle’s “ASD: Myths and Legends” conference in 2016. Tadhg is currently studying observational drawing with the RHA in conjunction with UCD Parity Studios. Much of Tadhg’s work focuses on themes of queer and psychiatric heritage, as well as reinterpretations of the landscape. Tadhg is also a volunteer illustrator for Fighting Words. Tadhg is a founder of Comorbid Productions, dedicated to creating performances around mental health and disability. The group’s work was featured in the Heritage Week 2019 programme and Light it Up Comedy Gold at the Button Factory. In 2019, he received the Art Factory development grant alongside nimf and Finn McGinty O’Neill for the multimedia project, “coMORBID.” The same year, he also organised the Comorbid Short Plays Festival and co-presented the Comorbid Podcast during Lockdown, showcasing the writings of people affected by disability or mental illness. As a musician, Tadhg has performed at venues such as The Workman’s Club, the Grand Social, the Peacock Theatre, the Queer Cabaret at Drop Dead Twice, and the 2016 Cuala Éire Shebeen in Dublin City Hall. His poetry has been published three times in the Irish Times.
