The Film Journal is run by a queer Canadian artist who spends their time exploring the vast beauty of Canada, the USA, and beyond. This shutterbug prefers to travel by foot or car, on long road trips, to capture the in-between spaces and places that hold secret beauty.
Only shooting with manual cameras made before 1980, and only ever on black and white film, to ensure the highest-quality images. Their preferred methods are to self-process and develop all negatives in the dark room and enlarge by hand to produce customized prints with high-attention to detail. This process ensures that a wide greyscale range is achieved and brings out deep details of natural wonders like mountain spines, forest leaves, geological layers, cloud formations, water textures, and more.
Join the Film Journal as they document the beauty held in the untouched rural and remote places of our natural world.
