Tony is a primarily a songwriter and musician who was awarded Australian Songwriter of the year 2009 and Best Lyrics at the 2014 International Songwriters awards. Like many songwriters he has drifted into a painting, a long held dream. “In many ways painting is like song writing. You are telling a story as succinctly as you can, while creating an evocative narrative that will engage people and hopefully stay with them. You have to decide what to leave out. I have always loved Art and for many years have collected ideas for paintings. Now I have time to pursue it, the dream is being realized. I am lucky to live with a painter who is on hand to answer any technical questions, but as I’m constantly reminded, I still have to make the choices and do the hard work. My heroes are Chagall, Toulouse Le Trek, Brett Whitely, Arthur Boyd, Van Gogh, Kandinsky and Miro to name a few. I love oil which is my main medium, but I have also enjoy the immediacy of acrylic. Art is like learning a new instrument, which I am having a lot of fun doing”
