Lariviere Painter

Valérie is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative pictorial vision has been shaped through the many forms of art that have influenced her over the years, be it dance, ceramics, sculpture or illustration. Thanks to her training as a graphic artist and her studies in fashion design, she has internalized additional techniques that have enabled her to polish her aesthetic sense. Inspired by Pop Art artists, such as Wayne Thiebaud, or the American painter Edward Hopper, she is attracted to the glamour of bygone days, as portrayed by Americana Art, for its vibrancy of colours and its indomitable cheerfulness. Valérie aims to create images that ooze with intensity and luminosity, like as many vacation polaroids, bathed in a harsh light and shadowed by an aura of mystery. Through her colour palette and her use of shadows and light, she seeks to illustrate a moment in time, quickly gone, and invites her viewer to witness this fleeting moment. There he finds himself as a bewitched bystander, in front of a window that opens up onto a time that has no past nor future. Beyond this mystery, she invites her viewer to a state of contemplation by surrounding him in light, in the harmony of the moment that she has endeavoured to catch with the tip of her paintbrush. Mixing pastel colours with more vibrant ones, she presents us with alluring artworks, such as a lively candy store display or a lazy afternoon on a Baja California beach.
