Zachary "Zatch-in-a-box" Lithgow was born in 1988 in Paris, France. He grew up in a multi-cultural environment (French, American, Moroccan) and quite an artistic one also (costume design, music, writing) .He began drawing at a very young age inspired by various cartoons and comic books. Later on, at the age of seven, he attended painting classes at the 'Atelier terre de sienne' in Paris, for a period of nine years. This is where he learned how to use different mediums and discovered his passion for acrylic.
He never stopped drawing or painting while he was studying and working in an other area (Software Engineering) but really took it more seriously and full-time in mid 2015. Once in a while he takes on painting commissions, but most of the time he paints for future exhibitions, in his studio in NY.
It's important for him to constantly try to express his vision concerning society through everything he paints, especially the way we perceive one another in our modern times. He uses paint to expose his ideas and humanist conception to the audience and leaves room for debate and discussion around it. He often tries to remind us that our society is complex and full of different cultures and ways of living in it, and that we should try to be more open minded and respectful about it.
